Description
The amano shrimp, also referred to as the Yamato or Japonica shrimp.
These shrimp are extremely adaptable to a wide variety of water parameters.
They are excellent in a planted tank as they will eat various types of algae. They are ravenous feeders and will often run off with a piece of shrimp food so they can have it all to themselves.
They are perfect companions for other dwarf shrimp species of caridina and neocaridina. Be sure they get plenty of protein in their diet as they have been known to find it in the form of other shrimp if they need some.
As one of the largest of the dwarf shrimp species, they also do well in tanks with fish, as long as the fish can’t get them in their mouths as food that is.
