Catappa Bark – Indian Almond Bark

SKU: SLCATBAR Categories: ,

Description

The leaves and bark of catappa has been widely used in aquariums for years. Bark being the more potent of the two.
Owners and breeders of various fish and invertebrates such as betta, discus, plecos & shrimp use bark for the treatment of bacterial ailments, and a healing agent for fish for wounds.
The use of catappa bark decreases the risk of infection and re-infection.
The comprised humic acid and tannins strengthen the mucous membranes of the fish and make it difficult for bacterial elements to get through the mucous membrane. Additionally, the bark pieces are known to assist in getting the water conditions that stimulate breeding by not only stimulating breeding but also helping to combat fungi on the eggs.
Likewise the growth of blue algae (cyanobacteria) will be inhibited by the bark, without impacting the beneficial bacteria the aquarium requires.

By releasing humic acids and tannins, catappa bark creates a natural environment and increases the vitality and well-being of your aquarium residents.

Our bark has come from Sri Lanka and has been issued with a phytosanitary certificate prior to shipping to us.

These are sold in 50g or 100g. As a natural product, pieces do vary in size and weight. The average length is 6 inch or 15cm approx.

Directions – Use 2g of bark for every 10 litres of water, directly into the aquarium. The bark will sink once it has taken on enough water, you  can pre-soak if required and break the bark up if smaller pieces are required.
